Like many of you, binge-watching shows on OTT platforms like Netflix or Prime Video has been a primary way to past time in a time when a month feels like a decade. Since theatre releases seem to be a distanced concept of yesteryear, there’s nowhere else where we can turn to satiate our need for theatrical entertainment. Fortunately, for us, Netflix claims that it’s got enough new content to get us going through an extended lockdown period. YES!

In the company’s quarterly earnings call, Netflix’s Cheif Content Officer has assured that the company has enough content to last throughout 2020 without having to shift around launches or reduce the rate at which launches new shows and movies.

“Our 2020 slate of series and films are largely shot and are in post-production stages in locations all over the world. And we’re actually pretty deep into our 2021 slate. We don’t anticipate moving the schedule around much, and certainly not in 2020,” said Cheif Content Officer Ted Sarandos.

“The internet is growing. It’s a bigger part of people’s lives - thankfully. People want entertainment. They want to be able to escape and connect whether times are difficult or joyous. That’s pulling up (subscribers). We’ve had an increase in subscriber growth in March. It’s essentially,” said CEO Reed Hastings.

Unlike production houses like Sony, Universal, Disney, Warner Bros and Paramount, Netflix drops entire seasons of its shows at once. Because of this, Netflix shoots far in advance than other production houses. In a time where lockdowns are in place all around the world, this has proved to be advantageous for Netflix as they’ve already shot much of their series and films of 2020.

So, if you were paranoid about running out content to watch on Netflix, I think you need not be.
