Apple and Google announced that they would ban the use of location tracking on apps that use their contact tracing application program interface.  Apple and Google, said last month they would work together to create a system for notifying people who have been near others who have tested positive for COVID-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus. The companies plan to allow only public health authorities to use the technology.

According to Mashable, the applications use API on which both Facebook and Google have been working on for helping in slowing down the spread of coronavirus.
